Bomb Suspect Said to Implicate Himself 04 May 2010 A Connecticut man pulled off a plane bound for Dubai and arrested in a failed bid to set off a car bomb in Times Square has made statements implicating himself, a law enforcement official said on Tuesday morning. The man, Faisal Shahzad, 30, a naturalized United States citizen from Pakistan, was taken into custody just before midnight Monday at Kennedy Airport aboard an Emirates flight that had just pulled away from the gate, officials said. Mr. Shahzad had apparently driven to the airport in a white Isuzu Trooper that was found in a parking lot with a loaded handgun inside, the official said. Mr. Shahzad also told authorities that he acted alone, but hours after he was arrested, security officials in Karachi said they arrested a Pakistani man who had spent time with Mr. Shahzad during a recent visit there.

Faisal Shahzad, 30, was arrested at JFK International Airport in New York at 11:45 p.m. E.T. Monday as he prepared to board a flight to Dubai, United Arab Emirates, U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder said early Tuesday from Washington. But a federal law enforcement source said Shahzad nearly made it out of the country. "They just caught him at the last second," according to the source, who said Shahzad was on board the flight to Dubai and the jetway had been pulled back when the plane was called to return to the gate.

"No evidence" of Taliban's NY bomb claim - police 02 May 2010  New York police have "no evidence" to support a claim of responsibility by the Pakistani Taliban for a failed car bomb attempt in Times Square, Police Commissioner Ray Kelly said on Sunday. Kelly said a white man in his 40s had been identified on video footage of the area and was seen removing a dark shirt to reveal a red shirt about half a block from the vehicle.
