Bob McDonnell (R). The bill, which could pass the Republican-led House of Delegates as early as Tuesday, is one of the stronger ultrasound laws passed by states in recent years... Delegate Charniele L. Herring, a Democrat who opposes the bill, said the requirement that the probe be inserted vaginally was tantamount to "state-sponsored rape."

Some odd perversion of Christianity is at work here, where the normal taboos against rape have been neatly inverted. Maybe it's an unavoidable cosequence of unregulated power, that it inevitably turns to personal abuse. When a state government is taken over by Republicans, they suddenly turn feral and revert to their ugliest form. Who is going to stop them, the unions? Bah, they'll ban unions. Voters? Bah, they'll ban all the Democrats.
If anybody thinks these Republicans will cave to a silent protest, they're sadly deluded. Recall and ouster is the only thing that will stop these morally bankrupt Republicans.
