Texas A&M cancels White Lives Matter rally set for Sept. 11 | 14 Aug 2017 | Texas A&M University cited safety concerns as it cancelled a White Lives Matter rally planned for Sept. 11 by an outside organizer. University administrators consulted with law enforcement, system leaders and regents before cancelling the rally, spokeswoman Amy Smith said. Gov. Greg Abbott's office said Monday that it had been working with the university on how to handle the event safely as well. Organizer Preston, a one-time Texas A&M student, announced on Saturday that he would host a White Lives Matter event in College Station on Sept. 11. He planned to host a White Lives Matter representative from Houston and Richard Spencer, leader of the alt-right.
