Protests in St Louis after former police officer is acquitted of murdering black man --Protesters take to the streets after a judge acquitted Jason Stockley of first-degree murder for killing Anthony Lamar Smith. | 15 Sept 2017 | Protesters have streamed into the streets of St Louis after a white former police officer was found not guilty of murdering a black man in a 2011 shooting. Police are on standby in case of violence, and authorities appealed to protesters to march peacefully in a state that has seen racially charged clashes in the past. About 50 riot police monitored hundreds of demonstrators as they marched one block away from the courthouse.
