BP 'can't guarantee success' in oil crisis

BP 'can't guarantee success' in oil crisis 30 May 2010 Following 41 days of consecutive failure in stopping oil form gushing into the Gulf of Mexico, BP is not optimistic about the new method it intends to employ. BP announced on Sunday that its next plan to stem the oil flow, called "lower marine riser package" operation, involves robot submarines cutting the leaking pipe, placing a cap over it and then pumping the oil to the surface. However, the British company's Chief Operating Officer Doug Suttles said theoretically the method will work "but obviously we can't guarantee success."
